The absolute BEST places to eat and drink near West Glacier
Best Places Eat Glacier National Park

The Belton Chalet Dining Room | West Glacier | 0.4 mi
(406) 888-5000 | Call to confirm hours or drop in.
Low key and rustically elegant, this classic Montana restaurant is one of
our favorites! It’s also where we had our rehearsal dinner. Family friendly
but nice for just adults too. They recommend making a reservation. Their
steak, trout, and chocolate gateau are the best items on the menu!

Tupelo Grille | Whitefish | 26 mi
(406) 862-6136 | Sun-Th 5pm-9pm, Fri-Sat 5pm-9:30pm
The best restaurant in the Flathead Valley. Our go-to is steak with arugula
salad, fried brussel sprouts and an Old Fashioned. Their fish specials are
usually amazing too! After dinner, it’s always fun to walk Whitefish’s
downtown and peek into the galleries and shops. Dessert at Sweet Peaks
ice cream is a must!

Great Bear Cafe | Hungry Horse | 3.2 mi
(406) 387-9858 | 8am-8pm
This gem offers great sandwiches, soup, salad, dessert, and snacks to
keep you fueled. The chef/owner is dedicated to good food and a good
experience, even in the busy summer season. All the food is fresh, made
on-site and delicious.

Sunflower Cafe | 1.5 mi
(406) 233-9583 | Call to confirm hours or drop in.
This funky outdoor BBQ spot is a hidden gem nestled in one of the
nearby campgrounds. The vibe can only be described as chill and the
brisket on the weekends is delicious! Best after a day of hiking.

Lake McDonald Lodge| GNP | 10.9 mi
The ambiance at Lake McDonald Lodge can’t be beaten and we
definitely recommend taking in the views and the history over a meal
while you’re exploring the park. Johns Lake Loop/McDonald Cr Falls
makes for a mellow and beautiful hike after your meal and starts near
the lodge.

Spencer & Co Steakhouse | Kalispell | 28.6 mi
(406) 756-8941 | 5pm-9pm
Spencer’s specialty is delicious steaks served on sizzling metal platters
with generous slices of Texas toast, a bowl of American-style spaghetti,
and supper-club-style salads by friendly waitresses. There’s something
quintessentially Montanan about the experience and we recommend
stopping in if you’ve never been!

Nite Owl / Back Room | Columbia Falls | 16.8 mi
(406) 888-5359 | Nite Owl opens at 7am / Back Room open 4pm-9pm
Another Montana classic, this restaurant offers diner breakfasts on one
half of the establishment and BBQ, fried chicken, and fry bread on the
other. While not the lightest fare on either account, you’ll be hiking
anyways and probably need the calories! At least that’s what we tell
ourselves.

Honorable Mention:
We love breakfast out and would be remiss if we didn’t mention Echo
Lake Cafe near Bigfork (another cute little resort town on Flathead
Lake), and the Buffalo Cafe and SwiftCreek Cafe in Whitefish.

GLUTEN-FREE FRIENDLY OPTIONS:

These are our dedicated gluten free establishments:

Dan’D Lion Cafe| Hungry Horse | 8.4 mi

People rave about this unassuming cafe—we’ve not explored it yet
ourselves, but, it‘s worth exploring for celiac-friendly, gf lighter fare!

Rebel Roots | Whitefish | 17 mi
406-897-4898 | M,F 12pm-4pm & T,W,R 12pm – 2pm
Great, flavorful food! The crew at Rebel Roots has a location in the
Palace Bar in Whitefish and can also usually be found with their food
truck at the various farmer’s markets.

Red Poppy Gluten Free Bakery | Kalispell | 35 mi
This bakery is often described as “fabulous” by our local gluten free
and celiac’s community. If you need gf baked goods, give them a call!

Most other restaurants will have gf options on their menus — it’s
always worthwhile to check out the findmeglutenfree.com site or app.
